One Year, Football

I apologize for taking sooo long to post. It's been a busy couple of weeks! We had my son's first year birthday party last weekend. It was bigger than originally anticipated, but well worth all the time and energy put in. As this was my first birthday party for my own child, I realized people wanted to get him toys. If it had been me buying all the gifts, I would have brought clothes and cash...with a toy or two. But he's happier to get the toys, I'm sure.

My baby boy also started walking this week! Unbelievable how fast they grow. Everyone gets so excited when he starts walking. They think I haven't seen it before and turn it into a huge event like, "I got to see him walk first!" Of course, I burst their bubble and say that this is nothing new. But they don't care. People are funny.

Now, let's move on to something else I'm excited about...FOOTBALL! =+) My Pats played great for the season opener. (I was supposed to have been at that game but we decided to delay our trip until the spring. Maybe I'll get to go to a game next year.) Welker made a huge comeback and the newbies showed their skills. Mark my words, Hernandez and Tate will be big players for the Patriots offence this year. I don't want to talk about this week's game against the Jets. Reason #1- I didn't get to see the game so I can't critique it. #2- I heard it was sad and I don't want to depress myself. hehe Anyway, it was one game. We will pick up, brush off, and move on.

A few predictions/suggestions I'd like to offer for a few other NFL teams: *Cowboys are going nowhere this year. Sorry! I think Houston will help Dallas move to 0-3 and it will be downhill from there. *Colts are back. Don't know what happened the first week. *Eagles need to put Vick in as starting QB. Don't know why Andy Reid doesn't see that. *AFC East is going to be a tight race...minus the Bills.

Well, it's time for me to get to bed. I get my braces off tomorrow after wearing them for 2 years and 5 months. Think I'll buy a caramel apple this week. Yum.

Weekend Update

Ahh, home sweet home! I guess most of my writing will be during my son's naptime. He likes to press on the keyboard and the power button when I sit at the computer. Makes it hard to get things done, if ya know what I mean.

What did I do this weekend? Spent way too much time in a car. I think my son would agree with me. Went to my brother-in-law's wedding. Really nice. They had it in the backyard of their home at 5pm. It wasn't too hot and the sun was shining on the happy bride and groom for the ceremony. I wish them all the best!

Today, I am working feverishly to get things together for puppet practice tonight. We start rehearsals for our Halloween play for the last week or so of October. It's been a while since we've done a Halloween play. I know a lot of churches don't "celebrate" Halloween and either don't do anything for the holiday or have a harvest party instead. My church isn't scared of the word Halloween. We use the traditions to our advantage and find ways to spread the Gospel instead. Kids take candy...ours has a message of hope with each piece. We usually have a harvest party for kids aged 12 and under, too. But since the holidays falls on a Sunday this year, I thought it would be a great opporunity to get more people in the church to see our puppet play. We usually do a theme of "No Fear" or something like that. We also show how you can "defeat the devil" in some way using comedy but with a point. I'm hoping to eventually get the show recorded so I can share it with the world, here, on my tiny blog.

Well, my son has decided that taking a nap for 40 minutes was all he needed today. Ugh. Pray that I get all this stuff done before tonight. Oh, guess that's one more thing you should know about me. I'm a procrastinator. Yikes!

Going out of town

My husband's brother is getting married this weekend so I and my family will be making a four hour trip for the festivities. We'll be back tomorrow. Have a great weekend!

Just Getting Started

Okay, where do I begin? I guess I should start with right now. I'm sure that as we go along parts of my past will come forward. But I don't see updating 25 years of life to the world at this moment. My son is sleeping for only a short time and it would take much, much longer than that to recall the boring (to you) memories. So, if you're still reading at this point, let me give you a taste of what you might see in future posts.

Interests: Southern Gospel Music (really all music but I grew up singing and listening to this genre), professional sports (again, really any and all sports but I favor teams from New England/Boston. Oh yeah!), TV shows i.e., The Bachelor/Bachelorette, Castle, America's Got Talent, Parenthood, Biggest Loser, or whatever I deem worthy of my time. And last one I can think of at the moment...puppetry, as I am actively involved in the puppet ministry at my church.

Of course, I'll mention about my daily happenings in life and family events. I know, this must all sound really boring to you. But I know there is someone out there who can identify with my life and needs to hear its okay to be just another woman, who isn't a superstar, reality show participant, or model. We're just plain, old (using that term nicely), normal, ordinary gals. And that can be enough...can't it?
